Categories
Categories help you classify transactions by type — such as “Sales”, “Rent”, “Supplies”, or “Marketing”. Use them to organize your records and generate meaningful reports.
Category Types
| Type | Use for |
|---|---|
| Income | Revenue categories (e.g., Sales, Services, Interest) |
| Expense | Cost categories (e.g., Rent, Utilities, Travel) |
| General | Categories that apply to both (e.g., Miscellaneous) |
Creating a Category
- Navigate to Categories in the sidebar
- Click New Category
- Enter a name and select the type
- Optionally set a color and icon for visual identification
- Click Create
Using Categories
When creating a transaction, select a category from the dropdown. This:
- Helps you find transactions later by filtering
- Powers category-based reports (Pro plan)
- Provides visual organization in your transaction list
