What is product costing?
It answers "what does one unit actually cost me to make" — ingredients and packaging at the price you last paid, overheads spread across a batch, unit conversion between how you buy and how you use, and recipes built from other recipes. Then it prices from that cost at the markup you set, and shows the margin you really made rather than the one you assumed.
Why is costing read-only on Free?
Because it is the part that took the longest to build and the part nothing else at this price does. Free keeps the whole workspace visible — your costs, your batches, your margins — so nothing you have already entered goes behind a wall. Creating new costs and batches is Pro.
Can I switch plans later?
Absolutely. Upgrade to Pro anytime from your organization settings. Downgrade whenever you want — your data stays safe.
